Enjoying baby Maxton

IMG_2167.JPG, originally uploaded by McPryce.

Escuelita has been special this week. Not only has Samuel kept up with his regular school subjects, but he has been able to help Aunt Delina change Maxton's diapers, give him a bath and practice his baby talk. Of course daily nature walks have been much more exciting with Maxton who is enjoying the breeze and the song of the birds, not to mention the fresh air.
Maxton we will miss you when you go back to L.A.!

Bunk Bed

Samuel is officially sleeping in a big boy room. The stuffed animals you see hanging from the shelf have been put away. He sleeps in his new bunk bed all by himself and says that the bottom space is for his new baby brother...don't get excited family, Samuel talks a lot.
So, in the meantime he builds under the upper bed, and continuously keeps an ever-changing city in process.

As I write this, Jose is putting together the crib in the guest room for Maxton. I hope he finds the 8 missing screws!

Samuel's Good Ice Cream Recipe

Samuel has decided that now he knows how to cook. Last sunday he came up with this dessert recipe for Mommy and Daddy. He was a little dissapointed that the ingredients were not organic (!!!!!!!!!?????), but says it is still good. Click for the intro...
Below you will find the step by step directions.
Items needed: Blue Bell vanilla ice cream, Crushed ice cream cones and Chocolate syrup.

First you will need to crush the ice cream cone into a bowl.

Then scoop ice cream on top of the crushed cones.

Pour chocolate syrup on top ...

and EAT!

No More Vacation!

Look at this face! This is what I had to deal with the first day of school after Christmas break. While Grandma and Grandpa were in the other room Samuel was cooperative. As soon as they left he turned into the little monster that you see here and even resorted to biting me because (as he said repeatedly)
I HATE ESCUELITA!!!!!!!
Well, I did a lot of praying after that.
Today is Thursday and things are a little better. He is no longer hanging from the sofa as we try to do our reading lesson.
Where is the Principal's office?

Happy New Year!

This is Samuel's imitation of a monkey.

We spent the first morning hours of 2008 on a field trip to The Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. We were blessed with nice weather and Samuel was excited to be there with more than a million other people.

After the parade he wanted to take this picture for Grandpa, who calls him monkey and stayed home to watch the parade on TV.

At this moment he is planning and preparing a 2008 party for when we get back home. You are all cordially invited to find out what that is all about on our next entry!

Feliz Navidad

Samuel says that he is having his best Christmas ever! Look at the reasons why:

Almost daily visits to his favorite building in downtown LA - US Bank Tower, 73 floors, 1087 feet tall dressed in Christmas colors at the top.

Getting to know Maxton, his new baby cousin. And....

MENTA!

Plus a cool scavenger hunt in downtown L.A. which included community service. (We turn everything into Escuelita even on vacation).

Buildings & Skyscrapers

Samuel loves to build. He builds with his wooden blocks, Legos, skyscraper blocks, cushions from the sofa, bottles of lotion, containers of toothpaste, plastic cups, boxes, toilet paper rolls, Lincoln logs, craft sticks, wood, and stuff I can't even remember. And then he loves to draw them. A high rise, a low rise, the little skyscraper (Empire State Building), the Twin Towers, the Sears Tower, the Burj in Dubai.

One day I asked: "Are you going to be a builder when you grow up?" "No," he answered. "I don't want to have to do all that hard work!"
