Winter Olympics 2010

Taking pictures of Samuel for the blog is like pulling teeth. Painful!

We took a break from "regular school" to spend time learning about the Olympics. Samuel even insisted that we all needed shirts. Here you see him wearing his - maybe one day he will be in better spirits for you to see the back of the shirt also...

In his Winter Olympic 2010 binder he copied Scripture such as Joshua 1:9 " Be strong and brave. Do not be terrified. do not lose hope. I am the LORD your God. I will be with you everywhere you go." And did you know that you can learn great lessons from God's favorite athletes? Elijah, David, Samson, Peter and Paul.

Elijah?

Elijah (cross-country runner)ran nearly 14 miles with God-given endurance (1 Kings 18:41-45).

We also learned about Pierre de Coubertin - the Father of the Modern Olympic Games, the Olympic motto, the symbolism of the Olympic rings and that in the first Olympic Games, in Greece, the competed in the nude. We've come a long way!

By the way, did you know that the Luge is the most dangerous sport at the Olympics? Now we sadly have proof. Did you know there is a sport called Curling? Jose and I are trying to understand it.

Well, if you come by our house, ask Samuel to show you his Winter Olympic binder. It is full of great information.
