During this unit Samuel built a miniature boat like the Persians and Greeks used in ancient times, called a trireme. Using cardboard, aluminum foil, index card, straw and clay, he completed this history project and was delighted to try it in the bathtub. It is called a trireme because of its 3 stacked floors of rowers.

I was surprised this ancient boat made with modern household materials could not only float but withstand Samuel's enthusiastic bathtub storm - pleasantly surprised!
